Follow our workshop and racing progress

Sunday 4th June

Back in Business...............almost,

The Cams have been adjusted and the back of the car is re-assembled ready to head off to Turbo Thomas for a new back box. We need to release that power !!! (We can worry about how to stop later on !....)

Sunday 14th May

Easy like a sunday Morning......

What do you do on a sunny Sunday May morning when there isn't a race meeting?

Simples! You get in your pride & joy and rag it as fast as you can around one of the Countries best hill climb venues; Prescott near Cheltenham. Not quite the thrills and spills of the race track (thankfully), but a great day out none the less!

Tuesday 25th April

Thruxton Thriller ends with a bump......

We became the latest casualties of the countries fastest circuit. Matt rear ended into the tyre wall on lap 10. Fortunately the damage wasn't structural and 2 nights later the paint is drying in the workshop. Stanley Junior and Senior working their magic to make it look like nothing had hapenned. Still got the bumper and boot lid to sort but its ready for the much need cam adjustment to iron out the mid range flat spot - not that it seems Matt needs the extra power ;-)

Tuesday 21st March

Breaking Bad......

So it turns out our braking issue is caused by defective seals on the calipers. Luckily we spotted it before the Snetterton test day. The Calipers have been sent back to Carbon 12 to be rebuilt and are due back today. Another late night in the workshop tonight to get them refitted ready for departure tomorrow evening to Snetterton.......fingers crossed

Sunday 12th March

Donnington Rumble

Our first outing of the season came with the usual ups and downs. On the plus side the handling is superb thanks to Chris at Center Gravity. The car set up is totally different, really stable allowing us to power through corners. the biggest disappointment was the brakes that seemed no better despite the changes made.

Friday 10th March

Lets get ready to rumble.........................

Monday 8th March

Noise Issues

A quick noise test prior to the upcoming track day reveals 108 db - way too noisy for the test day at Donnington. A couple of frantic trips to Turbo Thomas for Some bolt on modifications as well as some additional quilt in the silencer and it looks like we're back in business - fingers crossed!

Thanks to Richard at Turbo Thomas in Redditch - specialists in VW/Porsche exhaust sytems

Tuesday 28th February

Northampton Motorsport - The big day!

Thanks to Troy and the team who persevered with some technical issues on the ignition pack and throttle body linkages to get the car running  prior to mapping and power curves, not to mention the most important top end figure! 204 - 265 Bhp

significant power upgrade!

Tuesday 21st February

Center Gravity

Chris has had the car in for a couple of days following our install of new Elephant Racing bump Stops and the rear monoball replacements. The front shock absorbers are shortened and the bushes replaced as they were shot.

The set up below shows the completed set up wih the overall weight of 1030kg  (actually 1020kg with the new battery). The balance & geometry is now near perfect, and all our hard work on the weightsaving has paid off saving nearly 100kg.

The car should have significant improved handling!!

Night Shift

A Bit fresh in the workshop last night! The newly painted GRP bonnet was re installed with new catches together with our re-vamped streamline bumper and black grille.

Great to see the car coming back together - Another weekend shift planned ready to return it to Simon at Pro-9 for the engine and gearbox to go back in.

Happy New Braking!
Good day in the Workshop today, the Early 911 big brake caliper upgrade together with new wheel bearings were installed.

Given our problems with braking last season this should hopefully make a significant improvement on our lap times!

We've also re-assembled and installed the handbrake.

The new windscreen is also in (just) Thanks to Stanley Snr!

The front discs are Black Diamond. Pads still to be chosen.

Weve also upgraded the tie rod ends with elephant racings bump steer upgrade kit. (One of the advisories from Center Gravity).

The rear sway arm mountings have also been replaced while the engine is out of the car.

Suspension & Geometry Analysis

A visit to Center Gravity in Atherstone provided some much needed diagnostics and further insight into the cars shortcomings.

(It totally explained why i'd spun at Brands and Donnington and Matt had spun at Thruxton ;-) )

We left with a fairly extensive to do list ready to return it in late January for final set up

This is the Geometery plan roduced by Chris at CG.

This shows what the wheels are doing when the car is pointing in a straight line.......not ideal!
